Japanese Word Processor
This is one of the handiest computer programs I have. It's for windows, of course-- the best operating system, tee hee! Not to mention that it's freeware, I don't really remember where I got it... At any rate it's sort of like a English-Japanese, Japanese-English and Kanji dictionary all in one. Plus you can write in either romaji, hiragana, katakana, or kanji. Because it's a computer program it has a more comprehensive kanji list and vocabulary than most dictionaries. It's really a translator's god sen of a program, because often the kanji you don't understand isn't one of the Jouyou kanji, or you'd understand it. It also contains a variety of slang and swear words which come in handy rather often...
To install the program, download the zip file ( it's about 3 meg ) unzip it into a directory. Then first run the "makeini.exe" program. It does something to convert the program into windows, you only need to run it once. Then open up the jwp.exe program and it should bring you to the word processor!
